Privacy Policy

The short version

The files you convert on Initurn are never sent to us, because there is nowhere to send them. Every converter on this site runs inside your browser. We do use cookies and third-party advertising, and this page explains exactly where and why.

Your files

When you drop a file onto one of our tools, your browser reads it from your own disk into memory, converts it locally using JavaScript and WebAssembly, and produces the result on the same device. The file is never transmitted over the network. We do not have a server that could receive it, we do not have storage it could be written to, and we cannot see the file, its contents, or its name.

You can verify this yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run a conversion. You will see no upload request. When you close or reload the page, the file and the converted result are gone from memory.

What we store on your device

  • Theme preference. If you use the light/dark toggle, we save your choice in your browser's local storage under the keytheme. It never leaves your device and is only read to avoid showing you the wrong theme on your next visit.
  • Cookies set by third parties. Our advertising and analytics providers may set their own cookies. These are described below.

We do not set any cookie of our own for tracking, and we do not operate user accounts, so there is no login or profile associated with you.

Advertising

This site is free and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet.

Advertising scripts run in the page alongside the converters, but they have no access to the files you convert. The file data lives in a Web Worker and in memory owned by the conversion code, and is never written anywhere an ad script could read it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which tools people use and where the site is slow or broken. It records information such as the pages you visit, approximate location derived from your IP address, your device type and browser, and how you arrived at the site. It does not record the files you convert or anything about them.

If you would rather not be counted, most browsers and ad blockers can block analytics scripts, and the converters will keep working normally.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare records standard request information — IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp — for the HTML, CSS and JavaScript files it serves. This is used for security and abuse prevention. It never includes your files, because your files are never requested from the server.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the homepage.
